Running Through the 5 With my Woes

        My squad and I are walking downtown. We hear this booming and look all around. The ground is thumping at our feet. We follow the sound of the boom and find a party pumped up with the hottest mix of 2015. Guess what happens? We are stunned by this insane party so we just go with it and eat all kinds of candy while dancing really crazily (picture included below). Soon enough we go swimming to chill out at Avila Hot Springs and they have the ultimate asset to life, water slides. That's right, WATER SLIDES, the most unpredictable and exciting things in the universe depending on the size, shape, and how many times you have ridden it. We slide down the slide at least 15 times while having the time of our lives and feel the water splashing at our sides. Exiting the slide, you cause a splash that will spread across the entire pool depending on the magnitude of your impact. Once we dry off and take showers, we ride our skateboards down the Avila Beach Boardwalk up a hill we like to call "El Diablo" because it is unconquerable on a skateboard unless you head down one of the cross streets about half way down. We strap on our helmets and with a click, we're off. Picking up speed, the entire board walk seems to fade as the wind floods our eyes and nearly pulls off our hair. I turn down one of the cross streets and slow down thanks to the uphill, uneven surface. After a long hard day of fun, I walk in to the house touching the hot door knob and walk all the way towards my room in the back of the house. With shaky legs, I lay down on my bed and switch on the T.V. and watch Netflix, with the exception of eating, until I pass out. Then I wake up from the exhilarating dream I just experienced and reminisce on all the good times I had like that.

Hey, I'm okay!

I like this book because even though it takes place in the 60's it still has a concept of modern life which shows us how we are alike with Americans in the 60's.
Just like today, people are trying yet struggling to find jobs and housing. They may not have electronics but they have there on perspective on what is modern. This book also addresses domestic violence with examples including the main character against his father and brother. I feel like the main character is a lot like me because we both jmoved away from our school and friends. I feel like soon enough the character is going to get really hurt by his brother or father and have to go to the hospital. The reason I think this is because he is hiding a signed Dodgers jacket from his brother and his father is really abusive. I also believe that the main character is going to make new friends because he has visited the library a few times and has met some people who have been nice to him but I honestly don't have a clue if they are friend worthy of the socially awkward main character. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read because even though it's a short book anyone who has read if will have something good to say about it because it is appealing to even the most picky reader. It is fun to read how the main character overcomes his hardships and obstacles. Even though he is quiet and doesn't cause problems, bad luck always comes his way. He is always nice to even the meanest people and plays it cool. He doesn't seem to be the fighting type, but this book is unpredictable, so you never know.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

          I like this book because of the thrilling or suspenseful moments. I also like how Percy and his friend Annabeth overcome the conflict between their parents and become really good friends with each other. I also like how the action takes a role in this story. Almost everywhere they go, they encounter hostile wheter they be Furies, giant reptilian women, third-snake-third-fire-breathing-eagle-third-goat, or anything else, they always overcome their obstacles.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

           This book reminds me of the Harry Potter series. They both have a protagonist and the protagonist have two friends that are male and female. They both include magic but Percy's magic is invisible to the humans. They both are on a quest to save the world from people who like to start conflict. A chapter I read in the Lightning Thief reminded me of the chapter in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when they found a chamber that flooded with water except Percy's was at a water park. I am continuing to see some writing strategies of J. K. Rowling adopted by Rick Riordan. I hope to see more!

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

               Tonight, Percy and his two friends Annabeth and Grover. I am so happy I chose this book to be my KBAR because it is so thrilling from start to end. It is very suspense and action-packed. This book reminds me of the Harry Potter series because it has a Protagonist who is supposed to save the world. They both have friends who are helping out immensely. They are different because Harry Potter is based on magic and Percy Jackson and the Olympians are based on Greek gods.

     Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

Tonight, Percy and his fellow campers played capture the flag. Percy was assigned to border patrol and was getting beat up by 6 of Ares' kids. He was patrolling the creek and when he stepped into the creek his senses were immediately activated. Thus, his father was determined. He is the son of Poseidon. With that as my evidence, I predict that he will become more popular because all the kids at the camp picked on him for being undetermined. I also predict that he will learn to achieve water based powers and master them. This will stop Clarisse, child of ares, from being able to bully him. I also believe that he will not be placed in cabin 3 (Poseidon's cabin) because Poseidon had no other children with mortals. Therefore, besides Percy, his cabin is empty.
